Mobility as a Service - Design Concept for Hackathon

Consider that you are travelling from Point A to Point B in Bangalore or any metro city for that matter. Now to complete
this single trip, there would be a multimodal transportation in use, such as cars, auto rickshaws, 2-wheelers, metro,
buses and other possibilities. By applying this concept of Mobility as a service where we can combine all the possible
multimodal transports in a single trip to help the customer in completing their trip and how we can iterate upon to
improve access, efficiency, cost and time in transit.

The Hackathon Scope and the Deliverables
Connectivity: Improve the last mile connectivity ( i.e, from a bus stop to a metro station or from station to Point B)
Reduce Latency: How can the wait-times and delays be reduced
Affordable: Make it accessible for the consumers
Sustainability: Can we bring the solution around the impact of pollution?
Desk Research & Findings
Within the given timeframe of the hackathon, we conducted a brief research to ideate furhter. What all was captured ?
Understand more on the concept of mobility as a service(maaS), look into other competitor apps.
Observations on the current behaviour of the user and assumptions (based on own experiences) as to how
the usage is for different types of mobility services.Analysing Google Maps, CityMapper apps, which are trying to solve a similar problem and try to find out the gaps
Discussed with participants present there, to understand.

Addressing the Challenge
App analysis of Citymapper - This app has a detailed planning, timings, options to go from point A to B. However, unavailable in India & the current flow does not cover usecases of Indian Metro cities at present ( such as wait-times,
diff. mobility options as per the demographic)
Can we integrate multiple 3rd party apps into one roof for the booking journey ( like bringing in all possible apps like
Uber, Ola, Quickride & more )
We will try to address these gaps and build a journey, for completing a trip from Point A to B, without having to juggle
between multiple apps &help in reducing the wait time and improve the efficiency.
User Flow
The flow is divided into 3 Parts.
1. Pre Journey - Discovery, Selection and the booking.
2.The Journey - Active rides, tracking of the complete Journey.
3.Payment - How do you pay for the journey? On the go or One time payment?

Journey from Point A to Point B
1. Consider the user is taking an Auto from Point A
2. Reaches the transit, Vijaynagar Metro station
3. Scans the ticket at the station to reach the other station ( Indiranagar ).

- Consider the user opts for a Bus service to reach Transit
- Takes the Prepaid Auto service at the metro station
- Reaches the desired Destination, Point B

Learnings from the Hackathon
Realtime problems requires in depth analysis and considering variable scenarios is required.
Using a design system when the fast deliverables are needed, helps in better and more iterations
The time constraints and assumptions and followign a crazy 8 approach, helped in ideating better.
